If you are applying using the online form, rather than waiting until 23/02/21 to apply via the Home Office digital app using your phone,

then you will also need to pay £19.20 for your fingerprints and photo taken as the biometric information.

The main difference between applying now and applying on 23rd Feb

If you have one of these biometric passport (a small symbols at the front bottom of your passport ) - BN(O) or HKSAR, then you can use your mobile app to verify your identity and also fill in an online application. The mobile app is mainly for scanning your passport.

You will not have to attend an appointment to give your fingerprints and photo, and you will not get a visa sticker in your passport.
-
You will be given a digital copy of your BN(O) status once you have been successfully granted a BN(O) visa.

在英國邊境申請 Leave Outside the Rules (LOTR) 已延長至7月19日
建議：可以在2021年7月19日之前在英國邊境申請 LOTR，然後通過手機 app 進行申請 BN(O) 簽證
有幾位人士入境英國時遇到冇收到LOTR的印章！雖然有直接跟Immigration Officer 講想申請LOTR，但是對方只係俾了一個普通的入境印(遊客身分)或直情冇俾印!

Leave Outside the Rules (LOTR) at the UK border has been extend until 19th July.
Suggestion: enter the UK before 19th July 2021 with LOTR and then apply BN(O) visa through the app.

Although family members must apply at the same time, but they may choose to travel to the UK separately.
When you apply, you and your family member will need to provide evidence of your relationship and that you live together.

If you start a new relationship when you have a valid BNO visa, your partner can apply as your dependant.
They’ll need to use your application number in their application to link them together, Global Web Form (GWF) or Unique Application Number (UAN).
If your child (under 18) was born after you got your BNO visa, you can apply for a BNO visa for them. You must have a valid BNO visa when you make their application.

Don’t send in payslips that are 10 years old, the Home Office will not accept it. Use other documents that can proof your address instead.

For those who have just recently arrived in the UK, it is best you show a combination of your proof of address in both Hong Kong and UK (e.g. UK rental agreement).

If children under 18 years old, Home Office should accept they are living at the same address as you as they are in your care. If they also have their own bank statement, then you can also consider providing this as their proof of address.

As well as money for accommodation costs, you will also need to show at least the same amount as someone would get on Income Support in the UK.
How much you need depends on how many family members are applying with you.

簡單說法，BNO簽證將會從批出簽證當天起標計算，所以請在簽證批出後盡早出發去英國，否則將來可能需申請延長BNO簽證!
For HK friends, if your application is successful:

you will need to come to the UK within 90 days, if you went to a visa application centre to prove your identity,

you will need to come to the UK before your visa expires, if you used the mobile app to prove your identity
The start date of the visa:
-
The period between entry clearance being issued and the applicant entering the UK may be counted towards the qualifying period (5 years). Any absences between the date of issue and entry to the UK count towards the 180 days allowable absence in the continuous 12-month period.
-
Simply put, the visa will starts when HO approved your BNO visa, therefore please enter the UK ASAP, otherwise you may risk to extend your visa!

How to extend your 90 days vignette visa?

對於在香港通過 Online 而沒有使用 app 進行申請簽證的朋友，一旦批出 BNO簽證，你需要在90天內進入英國。但如果你在貼紙上註明的90天內無法進入英國，則需要申請延期。
你將需要在網上申請延期，支付 £154 並預約去 UKVCAS 簽證中心，以重新提交你的biometric information。
新簽證貼紙的有效期為90天，因此請確保你可以在此期間內進入英國，否則你可能需要再次申請延期。
For those who have applied through the online process without the App, you will have 90 days to enter the UK once your visa application has been approved. However, if you cannot enter the UK within 90 days stated on the sticker (vignette), you will need to apply for an extension.
You will need to apply the extension online, pay £154 and book an appointment at UKCAV to resubmit your biometric information.
The new vignette will be valid for 90 days, so make sure you can enter the UK within that period, otherwise you may need to apply again to update your vignette.
